Covid-19 Marketing 2 Assignments

We are going to spend the next few weeks focused on Social Media. You will need to create an account on Stukent and log into that site to do your distance Learning assignments. These assignments will not be graded and they are being provided to help you learn more about social media. 
 
Here are some basic instructions for how we are going to do the distance learning for this course. This week we are going to ease into it. The activities are broken up into four parts this week. Just go through in the order things are listed.

WEEK 1 - April 6th -9th
Tennessee State Standards:
Standard 16) Analyze journal articles about effective institutional promotions (e.g. Macy’sThanksgiving Day Parade), identifying benefits achieved. Research a prominent example of an institutional promotion; name the company sponsor, identify any nonprofit benefactors, and construct
an essay highlighting factors that contributed to the launch of the promotion as well as to its
continued existence. Address how social media tools have been leveraged to support your
selected example.

Standard 18) Investigate how social media contributes to both the promotional side and personal sales
side of marketing efforts in establishing and maintaining customer relationships. Identify
different social mediums used for marketing and discuss challenges (such as limited
exposure, time constraints, hiring knowledgeable employees for this type of marketing, etc.)
associated with each.

WEEK 2 - April 13th - 17th

explain the importance of interior displays to a business’ overall image. Create a rubric for
evaluating the effectiveness of an architectural/interior display. In groups, divide a list of
local businesses to visit. Using the rubric, conduct site surveys to evaluate the displays at a
minimum of three businesses per group, and then share findings with the class in a
presentation.

Explain the relationship between pricing and product life cycle. Write an argument supporting either penetration pricing or price skimming as the best pricing strategy to Page 4 employ when launching a new product. Cite examples from news media or other appropriate texts of how each strategy was used in recent product introductions. 
 

 

WEEK 5 - May  4th - May 8th
 

 

7) Create a company orientation manual, including sections on,but not limited to,the following. a. Hiring b. Compensation Page 3 c. Scheduling, including vacation, sick, and paid time off d. Social media compliance policy e. Handling grievances f. Addressing customer feedback g. Performance assessments, including performance improvement and rewards h. Promotions, transfers, and dismissals i. Ethics in the workplace 

 

WEEK 6 - May  11th - May 15th

 

20) Examine different types of marketing research and define methods for gathering marketing research data; include primary and secondary research methods.  

 

21) Assist in finding a solution to a problem for the WBL partner or another local business using marketing information management.  

WEEK 1 - April 6th - 9th
Activity 1
Create an account in Stukent and join my online social media marketing class. To my class click on the link below. When you create your account in Stukent Your Username is your email address. Please use your SCHOOL email address and so that you will not forget your password, it should be your OHS student number (i.e. your lunch number). If you do not know your number email me and I will look it up for you.
 
 
In addition, you need to create a word document in OneDrive that we will use as a weekly journal. Many of your assignments will be typed into this Word file. The file name should be Your Full Name Distance Learning Journal ... for instance mine would be titled "Art Yasso Distance Learning Journal" Once you have created that file share it with me (yassoa).
 
Finally, Open up your online Distance Learning Journal (Word file) Title this entry Week 1 Activity 1. Type 1-2 paragraphs into your Distance Learning journal (shared word file) about how this pandemic has affected you and your family .

Share your thoughts about CoronaVirus and the Social Media. How can social media be harmful or helpful during this pandemic. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the current events and how they relate to economics, business, and marketing.

Background: You are an entrepreneur who has just invented the next hot product – Good Looking Hair Spray - You’ve decided to set up a kiosk in the middle of the mall to start demonstrating and selling your product line. You have 1,000 cans produced in each of three hair colors - black, brown and grey -  and $10,000 worth of working capital. You don’t currently have any investors and your marketing efforts thus far have been placing your items for sale on Amazon.

Introduce A New Product Through A Promotional Campaign 

Your goal in this activity is to create a promotional campaign for a new product. Keep in mind, the focus of your promotional campaign is to generate as much brand interaction with potential consumers as possible - - we’ve talked all year long about how important it is to keep the conversation going with your customers in order to generate future sales. Since your product is brand new, you also need to create recognition and visibility for it in the syrup category. Your company currently has a well designed website and Instagram account.

Step 2:  Create a free account on animoto.com. Clicking “start from scratch” is the best option for creating your video. Watch a tutorial video on Youtube if needed so you can get more familiar with the Animoto program.

 

Step 3: Select a photo for each of the products you are using to represent each stage of the product life cycle and save photos to your computer. Then upload those photos into Animoto. You will “add blocks” to create your video storyboard and upload your pictures into each block.

 

Step 4: In the captions box for each photo, write the stage of the product life cycle the product is in and evidence to justify labeling it with that phase. (There is a character limit on captions—be creative in how you write it!)

 

Step 5: To finish your video, hit “preview”, then “produce” and then it will give you a link to copy. Turn into your teacher through email or share link on OneDrive.
