ACADEMICS

  • Oakland Broadcasting students has been chosen as one of the finalists in the TN Together PSA Contest sponsored by News Channel 5 and the TN Dept of Health. Congratulations to Ian Davis, Will Miller, Jose Zapata, Chris Mack, Marquell Corbitt, Chuck Turner, and Katelyn Tramell on receiving this nomination.
  • NO food deliveries will be accepted for students.
  • Mid Progress Reports will go home on April 19th.

 

ACTIVITIES AND CLUBS

  • Student Council Class Officer Election packets are due to Mrs. Hays today.
  • The 62nd Annual Mathematics Contest was held at MTSU.  Out of approximately 700 participating students, 42 were from OHS.  We had 5 students place in the top 10 in their categories and 6 additional students in the top 20 in their categories. 
  • The FFA Annual Plant Sale continues their sale during school hours and every Saturday in April, 8:00 AM – 12 Noon.
  • The Rutherford Spoken Word Slam hosted by Southern Word will be held Friday, April 20, at 4 pm in the Oakland High School lecture hall.
  • NO food deliveries will be accepted for students.

 

FINE ARTS

 

 

SPORTS

  • OHS Archery Team earned 1st place in the 3D tournament. In the girl's division, Freshman Gracie Anderson placed 4th; senior Sara Carmichael placed 3rd and freshman Ally Howell 2nd.  In the boy's division, freshman Kenneth Merritt placed 5th; sophomore Wyatt Cox placed 4th and junior Mac Carmichael placed 3rd. All students who placed in the top 5 were awarded a $7500 scholarship to Bethel University. 
  • OHS placed 3rd bulls-eyed division. Freshman Kenneth Merritt placed 4th in the male division.   In the 3D tournament, Kenneth placed 4th along with sophomore Wyatt Cox placing 2nd and senior Elisha Ivory placing 1st. During Spring Break, we participated in the TN NASP State Tournament hosted by TWRA at Millers Coliseum with approximately 2,000 archers.  OHS has qualified to participate in both the National and World Competitions. Oakland High School placed 4th in the State with junior Mac Carmichael in 6th place (male division).  The National competition will be held on May 10 - May 12. 

    The World competition will be held on June 7 - June 9.

    Tennis has a match today at White County starting at 4:00 PM

  • JV Baseball plays Stewart Creek here today starting at 5:30 PM
  • Varsity Baseball vs Stewarts Creek there 6:30 PM today.
  • OHS Football lift-a-thon “Night of Champions” will be Thursday, April 19th at 6:00 PM in the indoor facility. open to the public.
  • Athletic Signings will be on Friday, April 20th, during PAT.
  • Boys Soccer team will have a fundraiser at Chipotle on April 23 5:00 – 9:00 PM Get a great meal AND support the team at the same time!
  • Basketball Cheerleaders paperwork was due April 13. There will be a cheer clinic on April 17 & 18 from 3:45 – 5:45 in upstairs gym. Cheer tryouts will be April 19 from 3:45 – 5:45 in upstairs gym.
  • Dance Team tryout clinic will be April 18 &19. Tryouts will be April 20.
  • Free TOA athletic physicals will be April 21st beginning at 7:45 AM at TOA on Medical Center Parkway.
  • Varsity Football & Competition Cheerleading tryout clinic will be April 24 & 25 3:30 – 5:30 PM
  • Varsity Football & Competition Cheerleading tryouts – April 26th 3:30 PM
