ACADEMICS

  • Big Lick of the Week: Jaysean Menafee
  • Student of the Week: Hannah McClanahan and Hadley Grace King
  • Tennessee offers Governor's Schools in the summer for talented students in eleven disciplines:  Agricultural Sciences; Arts, Business, Innovation & Technology; Computational Physics; Emerging Technologies; Humanities; Integration of Biological & Statistical Sciences; International Studies; Prospective Teachers; Sciences &Engineering; and Scientific Exploration of Tennessee Heritage.  Sophomores and juniors who excel in any of these areas are encouraged to apply.  Attending Governor's School is one way to qualify for a diploma with distinction.  Applications are on the OHS website. Minimum GPA is 3.0.  Some schools require as high as a 3.5 to qualify.  Completed applications must be returned to your counselor by Friday, November 2 for the Arts and by Friday, November 16 for all other schools.  Please adhere to these OHS deadlines and not the postmark date on the applications.  

 

ACTIVITIES

  • Underclassmen Makeup pictures will be October 26, 2018 in the auditorium. This is for any student who was absent on the picture day held on August 31, and for students who did not like their photo in the proof they received from their English teacher. Students will be photographed during their English classes as on previous picture days
  • Clubs and organization pictures will November 13 and 14 during 1st period and PAT in the Gym. Please see your club sponsor for picture instructions.
  • The Patriot Perk will be selling muffins every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday between PAT class and 4th period.  The muffins are $0.50/each and will be located between the M and K buildings.  Come by and see us

 

FINE ARTS

  • Good luck to the as they will compete this week-end at Austin Peay in the Mid-South Marching Invitational.
  • The Marching Band rehearses every Tuesday and Thursday through the end of October on the main parking lot.  Please remove any vehicles from the main parking lot no later than 4:45 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  

 

SPORTS

  • Girls Soccer team will play Cookeville at Siegel Park on Saturday.
  • Congrats to the football team for their victory over Cookeville Last night.
  • Freshmen Football will participate in the Lions Bowl on October 30th against Shelbyville High School in Tullahoma, TN. Tickets are $5 and are on sale in the front office.

 

MISCELLANOUS

  • October 18 – Parent/Teacher Conferences 3:15 – 6:15 PM
  • November 6 – No School – Election Day
  • November 15 – Early Dismissal Day
  • November 21-23 – Thanksgiving Break

  • The front office will not accept any fast food deliveries by stores or parents for students. Students cannot bring any fast food to school.
