Teaching as a Profession Pathway
Teaching is the profession that teaches all of the other professions. -Unknown

The Teaching as a Profession Pathway is the first step towards a career in Education. Here at Oakland High School we are pioneering a new approach toward preparing for an Educational career that provides more choice to students and lots of hands on experience. As students progress through the pathway they have more and more opportunities to work in the school setting culminating with a year long internship in the grade level/subject of their choosing, their Senior year. When students finish this pathway they will know without a shadow of a doubt if they want to pursue a career in the Education field.
The pathway consist of 4 classes :
                                                         Fundamentals of Education
                                                         Teaching as a Profession
                                                         Teaching as a Profession 2
Teaching as a Profession Practicum (this is blocked with Work Based Learning                                                              for students to have time to complete their internship)
**Classes must be taken in order however TAP 2 & 3 can be taken concurrently as a Senior if the pathway was started their sophomore year.
