Application to the program

To apply to the program at Oakland High School, please click on the link that pertains to your current grade:
 
Incoming Freshman (you are currently in 8th Grade)
 
Rising Sophomores (you are currently in 9th grade)
 
Rising Juniors (you are currently in 10th grade)
 
Rising Seniors - (you are currently in 11th grade)
 
Graduating Seniors:
 
All applicants must submit two letters of recommendation from their current teachers.
 
Mechatronics is a rigorous program that takes engineering theory coupled with hands on practical experience with machines and troubleshooting which will prepare students for a career or continued education at the university level. Mechatronics also has another pathway that is more hands on. This program will assist/prepare you for a career in engineering or industrial maintenance. This program provides:
College Credit (up to 18 credit hours with Motlow State Community College and an additional 7 credit hours if you take my dual enrollment math courses). 
University Credit (up to12 hours with MTSU) -  courses include Circuit Analysis I, Digital Fundamentals, Engineering Design and Statics
Other industry certifications include:
Siemens Level 1 Certification (must pass the level 1 test upon completing all six courses).
Solidworks 3D Computer Aided Drafting Certification
Fanuc Robotics Certification
Precision Measurement Instruments (PMI) - 6 different certifications
 

A foundation in Electrical Components, Mechanical Components, Fluid Power and Programmable Logic Controllers (control systems).
Hands on experience with industrial components, robotics, troubleshooting and programming.
Opportunities for job shadowing, internships, scholarships, jobs and other work based experiences.

You can graduate with up to 31 college credit hours and receive 3 industry certifications.
Beginning their Junior year, students may enter into the Associates Degree program with Motlow state if they qualify.
Due to limited space in the Mechatronics Program, upcoming juniors and seniors must complete this application and receive an acceptance letter to register for Mechatronics. You may be required to interview in order to receive a spot.
This class will require participation in SkillsUSA and does come with lab fee's each year.

Students applying must meet to following requirements to be eligible:

Minimum GPA 3.0 for students in grades 9-12  (Does not apply to incoming 8th graders since middle schools do not have GPA's).

Must have A's and B's in math and science

Must not have any school discipline issues (ISS or OSS)
Students must also meet Motlow State Community College and MTSU ACT requirements junior and senior year of high school.
