Welcome
Welcome to Our Life Skills Transition Classroom!
Building Skills for Life with Mrs. Fisher
Dear Students and Families,
Welcome to a new school year at Oakland High School! My name is Mrs. Fisher, and I am excited to be your teacher in our Structured Setting classroom for young adults ages 18 to 22. Together, we will work on developing real-world life skills that support independence, work readiness, communication, and community participation.
Our classroom, known as the Life Skills Transition Classroom, is designed to feel like a small, supportive mini-academy within the school. We’ll learn through hands-on activities, task boxes, small group instruction, independent work, and trips into the community. Students will also have the opportunity to build job skills through our PAES Lab and on-campus work-based learning.
Throughout the year, we’ll focus on:
-
🏠 Daily living and household skills
-
💵 Budgeting, shopping, and money management
-
👔 Job and career exploration
-
🗣️ Social and communication skills
-
🚌 Community-based instruction
-
🧘 Self-regulation and confidence building
I look forward to partnering with you to help each student grow into their next chapter of adulthood. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with questions or ideas.
Let’s make this our best year yet!
Warmly,
Mrs. Fisher
