The purpose of the Psychology Honor Society at Oakland is to promote interest in psychology through academic enrichment, discussion, and service opportunities related to the field. Through our investigation and understanding of a variety of psychological perspectives, members are encouraged to be advocates for empathy and to engage in reducing the stigma surrounding mental illness.  The Honor Society provides a space for students to share in their passion for the field during monthly academic sessions covering topics such as:

  • The Psychology of Trends
  • How stress shapes us
  • Influencers and persuasion
  • Social media and self-worth
  • The pressure to be perfect
  • Stress culture in schools
  • Body image and the media
  • The loneliness epidemic
