The mission of STARS:
To help young people pursue their unlimited potential.
STARS is a Student Assistance Program at Oakland High School . My focus is to be an additional support for students who may be struggling with a variety of issues - everything from academic issues, peer conflicts, healthy relationships, family conflict, divorce, grief, or mental health concerns. Students may come to me as little as once, or as often as needed (as approved by teachers). Every effort is made to not disrupt instructional time, particularly core academic classes. If a student is seen regularly, a permission form must be signed.
I also team-teach in classrooms on a variety of prevention/education topics. If a student is involved in one of these classes, a permission form will be brought home to be signed by a guardian.
