Mrs. Moore - STARS

Welcome to STARS (Students Taking A Right Stand)!

STARS Logo with tagline

The mission of STARS:

To help young people pursue their unlimited potential.

Covid-19 Information:

Though we are not currently in school, I wanted to make sure everyone knew that I am still available through email. Please email me at moores@rcschools.net if you need me. I will be checking my email throughout the day Monday - Friday during regular school hours. Also, if you feel that you could benefit from outside counseling services, the resources I recommend are always to start with you insurance company to see who is covered by your plan. If you do not have insurance or mental health coverage, I recommend calling 211 or visiting 211tn.org. This is a service of United Way that will link you to all of the resources in our area.

Stay safe, stay healthy, stay home, and make sure you WASH YOUR HANDS!

STARS is an SAP (Student Assistance Program) at Oakland High School .  My focus is to be an additional support for students who may be struggling with a variety of issues - everything from academic issues, peer conflicts, healthy relationships, family conflict, divorce, grief, or mental health concerns.  Students may come to me as little as once, or as often as needed (as approved by teachers).  Every effort is made to not disrupt instructional time, particularly core academic classes.

The SAP program has been recognized by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices (NREPP) as one of three evidence-based practices to address intervention services for youth ages 6 to 18.  Anyone in the school, as well as parents, can refer a student to STARS.  Students may also refer themselves.  Please contact me if you have any questions about STARS!
