Welcome to STARS (Students Taking A Right Stand)!
STARS is an SAP (Student Assistance Program) at Oakland High School . My focus is to be an additional support for students who may be struggling with a variety of issues - everything from academic issues, peer conflicts, healthy relationships, family conflict, divorce, grief, or mental health concerns. Students may come to me as little as once, or as often as needed (as approved by teachers). Every effort is made to not disrupt any instructional time, particularly core academic classes. The SAP program has been recognized by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices (NREPP) as one of three evidence-based practices to address intervention services for youth ages 6 to 18. Anyone in the school, as well as parents, can refer a student to STARS. Students may also refer themselves. Please contact me if you have any questions about STARS!
Every month I will feature a different awareness event to share some information and resources.
Your end of school year homework:
Have a wonderful, SAFE, and happy summer!
Please always feel free to contact me with anything I may be able to help with!
