Tennessee offers Governor's Schools in the summer for talented students in 11 disciplines: Agricultural Sciences, Arts, Computational Physics, Emerging Technologies, Humanities, Innovation & Entrepreneurship, Integration of Biological & Statistical Sciences, International Studies, Prospective Teachers, Sciences & Engineering, and Scientific Exploration of Tennessee Heritage. Sophomores and juniors who excel in any of these areas are encouraged to apply. Attending Governor's School is one way to qualify for a diploma with distinction. Minimum GPA is a 3.0. Some schools require as high as a 3.5 to qualify. Completed applications must be returned to your counselor by Friday, October 20 for the Arts and by Friday, November 10 for all other schools. Please adhere to these deadlines and not the postmark date printed on the applications.
