April Optional Course Work

Hello Students and Parents,

I miss you all and hope you are doing well!

Please keep an eye out for communication through the Remind App or occasional phone calls. If we receive any new information regarding school we will be passing it on to you

Below I have added what you can be working on moving forward to keep you up to speed in English/General Studies. Parents, this work is OPTIONAL, and will not be graded. I will happily provide feedback on any work emailed to me! If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me at Broacha@rcschools.net, or through the Remind app.

To the right, in the red box, I have added a link to the game, "Teach your Monster to Read". This is a great resource and a fun, free reading game. The link should take your student directly to my class page, where they will not need a password,  and will be able to log in using only their first name. Please reach out with any log in issues!

Below the red box, there are several files I have added. These are packets put together for different grade levels. Each student is different, so choose whichever level you feel is appropriate for your child. These packets contain sheets for every subject and are a GREAT resource! Each packet has enough work for at least two weeks worth of work. I will add a new packet for each level on 04/26. I have been using them at home for my own children and highly recommend them!

For my 7th period group readers (or any other students who are interested!)-

Below is a link to the book "How to Eat Fried Worms". Make an effort to read for 15-20 minutes each day! I have posted worksheets to go along with the book, and you can also email me, or write a paragraph (5 complete sentences) of what you have read every two chapters.

General Studies Art 4/27-5/1

This week we should have some beautiful weather, which gives us lots of opportunities to go outside! Grab whatever art supplies you might have, even if it’s just a pencil and paper, go outside, and find something you want to draw. It can be a nature scene, a drawing of the clouds, or even a drawing of your neighbor’s house or the street, just get outside! If you don’t see anything around your home that you want to draw, use your imagination!

General Studies Work (Art)

For some Art fun, visit the Google Arts and Culture website- https://artsandculture.google.com/ Try taking a "virtual museum tour" to view art from around the world! One of my favorites is the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York . Here's a link- https://artsandculture.google.com/partner/the-metropolitan-museum-of-art After viewing some artwork take a few moments to think and answer some questions in an email or on a sheet of paper.
  1. What artwork caught your eye first?
  2. Was there any art you saw that you would like to try?
  3. What artwork did you not like? Why not?
  4. Practice drawing some of the art that you liked seeing. Include the name of the artist and the title of the artwork.
