Beliefs: What we believe about the impact of the program on student achievement

The OHS Counselors believe:

All students are valuable and deserve dignity and respect
 
All students have the right to access and benefit from the comprehensive school counseling program that assists with academic, social/personal, and career development needs.
 
All students can be successful learners with collaborative support and efforts between family, school and community members.
 
Data is a critical component used to measure the effectiveness of the comprehensive school counseling program.
 
ASCA Ethical Standards for School Counselors will be followed.

 

Vision: Focus and division to reach goals

 

The vision of the Oakland High School Comprehensive School Counseling Program is to see students graduate with a strong academic foundation, integral problem-solving skills, and motivation to be independent life-long learners. Students will have the resources to navigate and overcome barriers to achieve obtainable post-secondary or workforce readiness goals.

The mission of Oakland High School Comprehensive school counseling program is to assist ALL students in acquiring the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to achieve academic success, college and work force readiness and positive social and personal development.
